Tesla expands Grok AI capabilities via Summer Update

Tesla has significantly expanded the capabilities of its Grok AI assistant through the 2026 Summer Update. Previously limited to navigation and general information, Grok can now function as a comprehensive in-car controller capable of managing both hardware and software via voice commands.

Users can issue multiple simultaneous requests to the assistant. New functionalities include adjusting climate control settings, folding side mirrors, operating windshield wipers, opening the glovebox, and controlling headlights. Additionally, Grok can place phone calls from a paired device, search and queue music on streaming services, and search the vehicle's control panel.

Beyond physical adjustments, the assistant can answer specific questions regarding the vehicle's features or recent software updates. It is also capable of managing driving settings and vehicle dynamics to suit driver preferences.
