Tesla expands Supercharger network as Microsoft CEO calls for AI safety measures
Tesla has expanded its global Supercharger network to over 85,000 charging points across more than 9,000 locations. The company recently added approximately 15,000 new charging points in just 15 months, averaging about 1,000 new plugs per month. This expansion utilizes prefabricated systems, such as the V4 switchgear combined with eight charging points in a single transportable module, to increase deployment speed and reduce costs.
In the field of artificial intelligence, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has called for an ‘emergency brake’ mechanism for AI models. Nadella emphasized that humans must maintain the ability to stop or shut down a model during a task to prevent loss of control. He argued that AI actions must be traceable and that developers should assume models could be compromised, necessitating robust containment mechanisms from the outset.
Additionally, Nvidia is reportedly in early-stage negotiations to either increase its stake in or fully acquire the AI startup Reflection AI, according to reports from the Financial Times.
