Tesla faces sharp decline in German electric vehicle registrations

Tesla experienced a significant decline in new vehicle registrations in Germany in July 2026. According to data from the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA), Tesla recorded only 367 new registrations, representing a 95% drop compared to June and a 67% decrease compared to July 2025.

Despite this specific setback for the manufacturer, the broader German electric vehicle market grew. In July 2026, approximately 79,000 pure electric vehicles were newly registered, a 62% increase over the previous year. Electric vehicles now account for 29.3% of all new vehicle registrations in the country.
