Tesla integrates Grok Bot for hands-free vehicle tasks

Tesla has introduced Grok Bot capabilities within its vehicles, allowing the AI assistant to perform functional tasks beyond simple inquiries or cabin setting adjustments. Through the use of Connectors, drivers can manage digital workflows hands-free while driving.

Users can interact with the assistant via the App Launcher, a long press on the steering wheel microphone, or voice commands such as ‘Hey Grok’. Once connected to third-party services, the bot can manage email inboxes, organize calendars, review files, and handle tasks like ordering coffee or booking restaurant tables.

To enable these features, users must set up a ‘New Connector’ within the Grok app by selecting a service and logging in. Currently, these advanced capabilities are reserved for SuperGrok subscribers, though Tesla has indicated that additional subscription tiers may be introduced for future rollouts. While the assistant can make phone calls, it does not yet support sending text messages, and deeper integration with Full Self-Driving (FSD) systems is planned for a later date.
