Tesla leads South Korean import market as Honda develops wireless charging

Tesla has maintained its position as the best-selling imported passenger car brand in South Korea for eight consecutive months. According to data from the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA), Tesla led the market in September with 12,372 units, followed by BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The Tesla Model Y L was the most popular imported model, with 8,690 units sold. Electric vehicles accounted for 52.1 percent of all imported passenger car registrations in September.

In separate automotive developments, Honda is collaborating with the Taisei Group to introduce a wireless power transfer road system. This technology aims to allow electric vehicles to charge wirelessly while driving, potentially eliminating the need for cables and adapters. While other companies like Stellantis and Hyundai have explored similar concepts, Honda’s involvement is seen as a significant step toward the commercial application of wireless charging infrastructure.
