Tesla Model S reaches 600,000 miles with minimal maintenance
An Australian Tesla Model S owner has reached a significant milestone, recording over 600,000 miles (approximately 965,600 kilometers) after eight years of use. Nigel Raynard, who operates a limousine service in Byron Bay, reports that the vehicle still ‘drives like new’ despite the high mileage.
Throughout its service life, the Tesla Model S 75D has required only one battery replacement. The original battery was replaced under warranty after the vehicle reached approximately 414,000 miles due to slow charging speeds; it was replaced with a 90-kWh battery pack.
Maintenance requirements have also been notably low. Raynard noted that the brake pads have only been replaced once, a factor he attributes to the use of regenerative braking. While the vehicle has undergone other repairs, including a new air-conditioning system, suspension components, and drive unit mounts, the car continues to be used for daily commercial transport.
