Tesla Model Y driver reports 61% reduction in energy costs

A Tesla Model Y owner reported significant energy savings compared to driving a plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi Outlander using E85 ethanol. After driving 17,201 km since May 2026, the total charging cost was €663, averaging €3.85 per 100 km.

In comparison, the previous vehicle consumed 11 liters of ethanol per 100 km. At an average price of €0.90 per liter, the cost for the Outlander was €9.90 per 100 km. This represents a 61% reduction in energy costs for the Tesla driver.

Data indicates that only 7% of the Tesla's charging occurred at home, with the majority coming from Superchargers (44%), other charging stations (34%), and the driver's workplace (15%).
