Tesla posts record deliveries and unveils Texas lithium refinery as shares dip

Tesla reported a record 480,126 vehicle deliveries for the second quarter, a 25% year‑over‑year increase, but its stock fell about 7% on the same day, its worst session in nearly a year. Analysts noted that the market is now weighing the company’s progress in autonomy and robotics more heavily than pure vehicle sales. The firm’s robotaxi service expansion to Miami helped lift the share price in the following days.

In its 2025 Impact Report, Tesla announced the completion of a Gulf Coast lithium refinery in Texas, the largest in North America, capable of producing 20,000 tonnes of battery‑grade lithium hydroxide annually. The facility uses commercial‑scale alkaline leach processing, cutting greenhouse‑gas emissions by over 30% and reducing water discharge by 80% compared with traditional methods, reinforcing Tesla’s sustainability goals across its battery supply chain.
