Tesla postpones Roadster unveiling to October 15 due to weather
Tesla has rescheduled the unveiling of its second-generation Roadster from October 1 to October 15, 2026. The company cited severe weather forecasts in Waco, Texas, as the primary reason for the delay, noting that the event must be held entirely outdoors.
The postponement comes after nearly nine years of delays since the model's initial prototype reveal in 2017. The upcoming demonstration is highly anticipated due to rumors regarding a SpaceX-developed cold gas thruster package, which could allow the vehicle to briefly hover or float on water.
Because the planned demonstration involves these specialized propulsion systems, Tesla indicated that an outdoor setting is necessary to manage noise and safety. The event, themed “Go for launch,” remains a focal point for investors and customers who have placed significant deposits on the vehicle.
