Tesla Roadster unveiling coincides with SpaceX no-fly zone in Texas

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented a temporary flight restriction (TFR) over the SpaceX test facility in McGregor, Texas, near Waco. The no-fly zone is scheduled to be in effect from September 18 through October 2, 2026.

The restricted airspace covers a 1.5-nautical-mile radius and extends up to 10,000 feet above ground level. While the FAA filing does not explicitly name Tesla, the timing and location coincide with the scheduled October 1 unveiling of the long-awaited Tesla Roadster.

The new Roadster is a bespoke Tesla development, distinct from the original model based on a Lotus chassis, and is expected to reach top speeds of approximately 250 mph (402 km/h).
