Tesla begins high-volume Semi electric truck deliveries in Nevada
Tesla has officially launched high-volume production and deliveries of its Semi electric truck at a dedicated facility in Sparks, Nevada. This milestone comes nearly nine years after the vehicle was first unveiled in 2017. The plant is designed to reach an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles.
The Semi is available in two configurations: a Standard Range version with an estimated 325-mile range and a Long Range version capable of approximately 500 miles on a single charge while fully loaded. Early customers receiving deliveries include major corporations such as PepsiCo, DHL, and US Foods.
Demand for the electric heavy-duty truck appears significant. A coalition known as ZET SCALE, which includes Microsoft and PepsiCo, has placed an order for 2,500 Tesla Semis. Additionally, the Swedish company Einride has committed to adding 500 units to its fleet. While Tesla has not disclosed current production volumes or specific pricing, the company aims to expand its presence in the commercial freight market as an alternative to diesel-powered transport.
