Tesla seeks confidentiality for FSD safety data in Europe

Tesla has reportedly sought to ensure that safety assessment data regarding its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system remains confidential during regulatory reviews in Europe. Correspondence obtained by Reuters between Tesla and the Netherlands' vehicle authority, RDW, indicates that the manufacturer has requested non-disclosure of specific documents as part of the approval process.

While the RDW has approved FSD and is seeking broader EU-wide recognition, the authority has not released detailed measurement data or specific testing results, citing the protection of trade secrets. This lack of transparency has drawn criticism from road safety experts, who argue that official test results are of significant public interest.

Regulatory scrutiny continues across Europe. In Finland, Traficom is evaluating the system's performance on steep or winding roads, while France has expressed opposition due to concerns regarding speeding and driver supervision. Additionally, Norwegian authorities noted that their review of the data did not align with the highly favorable safety statistics published by Tesla.
