Tesla Semi slated for France 2027 as European electric trucks gain up to 7% energy savings

Tesla announced that its all‑electric Semi truck will be delivered to customers in France beginning in 2027, following the start of serial production in April 2026 at its Nevada gigafactory. The Semi is equipped with a 900 kWh battery pack, offers 530–800 km range depending on configuration, and can charge 60 % of its capacity in about 30 minutes. The launch is part of Tesla’s push into the heavy‑vehicle market and follows growing European demand for electric trucks, with sales up 40 % in the first quarter of 2026.

A separate test in Germany by Activ Cars, a logistics firm in the Sovereign Group, fitted electric tractor units with aerodynamic side‑skirts supplied by the startup Dymaxa. After four months of mixed‑regional routes, the side‑skirts reduced energy consumption by 5‑7 %, equivalent to roughly 20 km of additional range on a 300 km‑per‑charge vehicle. The improvement can lower charging frequency and operating costs, offering a modest but valuable efficiency gain for electric truck fleets.

Both developments highlight the accelerating adoption of electric trucks in Europe and the ongoing search for technologies that extend range and reduce operating expenses.
