Tesla to launch three major energy storage projects in Bulgaria
Bulgaria has emerged as a global leader in energy storage systems, with investments in the sector exceeding 3 billion euros over the past year. These investments, largely driven by Bulgarian entrepreneurs, represent approximately 3% of the country's GDP.
Advanced discussions are underway with Tesla to implement three major energy storage projects in Bulgaria. These projects are planned for Stara Zagora, Tvarditsa, and Veliko Tarnovo. The facility in Veliko Tarnovo is expected to be one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
This development positions Bulgaria as a central energy hub for Central and Eastern Europe. The strategy involves importing low-cost electricity from neighboring countries during the day for storage and exporting it during peak evening hours, which may help lower regional electricity prices.
