Tesla unveils European Semi truck specs and charging plans

Tesla has unveiled the European specifications for its electric Semi truck at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Hannover. The vehicle is expected to begin deliveries to European customers in 2027.

The European version of the Semi features a range of up to 550 kilometers at a combined gross weight of 40 tons, with an energy consumption rate of 1.0 kWh per kilometer. The truck is equipped with three independent electric motors on the rear axles, providing a maximum power of up to 800 kW. It also includes an electric power take-off (ePTO) of up to 25 kW for external applications such as hydraulic systems.

To support the rollout, Tesla plans to install over 100 megawatt-capacity charging points across 21 locations in Europe. The initial deployment will focus on Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the Benelux countries. While Tesla's Megacharger hardware can reach 1.2 megawatts, the European Semi is specified for a maximum charging power of 800 kW, aiming to recover over 60% of its range within 30 minutes. Tesla intends to use the industry-standard MCS connector, making the infrastructure available to others, and will provide CCS adapters for Semi owners to use existing charging networks.
