Tesla unveils next-generation Roadster with SpaceX-inspired thrusters

Tesla has unveiled the next generation of its Roadster sports car during a demonstration at a SpaceX testing facility in Waco, Texas. The vehicle features specialized cold-gas thrusters developed in collaboration with SpaceX, allowing it to perform brief aerial maneuvers, including jumps and mid-air flips.

The demonstration showcased the car's ability to drive upside down on a curved ramp using a multi-mode suction system that generates downforce. The vehicle also successfully leaped over a row of other Tesla models. Tesla claims the Roadster can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 0.81 seconds.

Tesla plans to offer three distinct versions: the Performance model for road use, the Thrust version with additional propulsion, and the exclusive, invitation-only Rocket variant. The Rocket version is a single-seater and is not approved for public road use. Production is currently targeted to begin in 2028.
