Tesla workers resist training Optimus humanoid robots

Tesla workers at facilities in California and Texas are resisting company requests to record their movements to train the Optimus humanoid robot. The company utilizes imitation learning, where employees wear specialized suits to capture data on how to grasp objects, move limbs, and use tools, which is then used to teach the robot to replicate human tasks.

Due to concerns that the robots being trained could eventually replace their roles, some employees have refused to participate in the data collection process. In response, Tesla has shifted its data collection efforts to specialized teams and is establishing dedicated training centers to develop the Optimus system.
