Tesouro Direto investments reach record R$ 15 billion in August
Investments in Brazil's Tesouro Direto program reached a historic high of R$ 15 billion in August 2026, marking the largest monthly volume since the program's inception. This total was achieved through 1.32 million operations. Despite the record gross volume, the month saw a negative net inflow of R$ 2.21 billion, as redemptions and bond maturities totaling R$ 17.22 billion outweighed new applications.
Major factors influencing the monthly movement included the maturity of Tesouro IPCA+ 2026 bonds, which accounted for R$ 11.3 billion. Among new investments, Selic-linked titles were the most popular, representing 46.9% of sales. Inflation-indexed bonds followed with 36.3%, while fixed-rate bonds accounted for 16.7%.
The program remains highly accessible to small investors, with operations of up to R$ 1,000 representing 55.7% of total transactions. Individual entry points can be as low as R$ 2, depending on the specific bond. The total stock of the Tesouro Direto program ended August at R$ 272 billion, a 43% increase compared to August 2025.
