TESSA Energy launches new cogeneration plant in Skopje

TESSA Energy has officially commissioned a new cogeneration plant at the former Skopje North heating plant in North Macedonia. The initial phase of the project represents a 2.5 million euro investment and features two high-efficiency gas engines. The facility produces 2.1 MW of electrical energy and 2.6 MW of thermal energy, achieving an overall energy utilization rate of up to 90%.

The plant is designed to improve energy security and reduce air pollution in the Skopje municipalities of Chair and Butel. Residual heat from electricity production is transferred to the Energy Ecolink system to provide hot water for approximately 500 households and 14 institutions.

This project marks the first stage of a larger investment cycle. TESSA Group management announced plans for a second phase involving a 10 million euro investment to construct a new cogeneration plant with an installed capacity of 10.5 MW, aiming to create a modern, large-scale energy center.
