Tete International Investment Conference concludes with new partnerships

The first Tete International Investment Conference (CIIT 2026) concluded on October 10, focusing on transitioning the province from a raw material exporter to an industrial production hub. During the event, President Daniel Chapo advocated for an economy oriented toward industrial transformation and local wealth creation, highlighting Tete’s strategic location connecting Mozambique to Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi.

Several memorandums of understanding were signed to foster economic growth. Key agreements include a partnership between the Tete Provincial Government and the Tanzania-based Melian Foundation to strengthen essential health services, and an arrangement between the Tete Provincial Business Council and the Brazil-Africa International Business Community to support small and medium-sized enterprises.

To support these goals, proposals were made to establish a Tete Investment Desk—a public-private working group—and to develop export-oriented industrial clusters. Discussions also emphasized the need for improved energy availability, infrastructure, and logistics, including the potential implementation of dry ports to enhance regional transport corridors.
