Tether expands blockchain initiatives with Kenyan exchange partnership and USDT0 omnichain launch
Tether Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) in Kenya, a market valued at roughly $26.4 billion. The agreement aims to develop blockchain infrastructure for tokenizing equities, bonds and other securities, enable instant settlement, and provide fractional ownership through Tether’s Hadron platform. An investor‑education program for brokers and retail participants will also be created to broaden market access, especially for the Kenyan diaspora.
Separately, Tether launched USDT0, an omnichain version of its USDT stablecoin that operates on blockchains lacking a native USDT contract. Using LayerZero’s OFT technology, USDT is locked on Ethereum while an equivalent USDT0 is minted on destination chains such as Arbitrum, Berachain, HyperEVM and PlasmaeStable. By the end of 2025 the system had processed more than $50 billion in transfers, offering a single, authorized USDT representation across multiple networks and reducing reliance on separate bridge pools.
