Tether invests in Bolivian fintech Peso to expand USDT infrastructure
Tether has led a pre-seed investment round in the Bolivian fintech company Peso to expand USDT payment infrastructure across Latin America. The funding is intended to support Peso’s expansion into Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina.
Peso provides services including QR payments, point-of-sale solutions for merchants, and virtual accounts linked to local banking systems via ACH transfers. The company has already integrated USDT payments into Yango’s food delivery service in Bolivia.
The move comes as Bolivia has seen increased stablecoin adoption due to high inflation and a prolonged shortage of US dollars. The Bolivian government has been considering a regulatory framework to recognize USDT for payments, savings, and trade alongside the boliviano and the US dollar.
