Tether secures 15 industry partners for Bitcoin mining MDK integration

Tether has announced that 15 companies, including major manufacturers and mining pools, have committed to integrating with its open-source Mining Development Kit (MDK). The initiative aims to create a common interface that allows diverse Bitcoin mining hardware, power systems, and mining pools to be managed through a unified framework.

Participating entities include Bitmain, Bitdeer, Canaan, MicroBT, F2Pool, Foundry Digital, and Luxor Technology, among others. These partners will develop and maintain ‘MDK Workers,’ which act as translation layers to convert proprietary device and system interfaces into the MDK common language. This interoperability is intended to facilitate the use of AI-driven automation, such as Tether’s QVAC mining agent, to monitor equipment, detect faults, and optimize performance across heterogeneous mining environments.

Tether’s MDK v0.11 reference agent has introduced a ‘human-in-the-loop’ control mechanism. This design requires a human operator to approve specific device actions, such as reboots or power mode changes, before they are executed. This safety measure is intended to mitigate the real-world risks associated with AI agents controlling physical hardware. Tether aims to release a stable version 1.0 of the MDK by the end of 2026.
