Teton County, Wyoming Declares Local Emergency Over Measles Outbreak

Teton County officials declared a local emergency after three linked measles cases were confirmed at Colter Bay Village in Grand Teton National Park, marking Wyoming's first outbreak of the disease in 2026. County Health Director Dr. Travis Riddell urged residents to verify their immunity or receive the MMR vaccine, noting its 93%‑97% effectiveness.

The Wyoming Department of Health later confirmed a third case in an unvaccinated adult and listed exposure sites, including a pharmacy, a Wendy’s restaurant, a convenience store, and the cabin office at Colter Bay Village. Authorities advised anyone potentially exposed to monitor for symptoms for 21 days, avoid crowded places, and seek medical guidance, especially infants, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals.
