Tetouan lawyers condemn tearing of Moroccan flag in Spain

The Association of Young Lawyers of Tetouan has issued a strong condemnation regarding recent incidents in several Spanish cities where the Moroccan national flag was torn during protests. The association expressed deep concern over the rise of hate speech, incitement, and racism directed at migrants, specifically targeting Moroccan citizens residing in Spain.

In a formal statement, the legal body emphasized that while political and social protest is a guaranteed right, it must not serve as a pretext for insulting national symbols or attacking individuals based on their nationality or origin. The association called on Spanish authorities and political actors to respond with seriousness and firmness to these acts of incitement and racism within the framework of the law.

The statement highlighted the importance of upholding human dignity and the rule of law to preserve the historical and social ties between Morocco and Spain. The association noted that political disagreements or migration debates do not justify targeting citizens or their national symbols, and it reserved the right to take appropriate civil and professional steps to defend the dignity of Moroccan citizens.
