Tetovo citizens demand reclamation of occupied public sidewalks
Citizens in Tetovo are calling for the reclamation of public spaces as businesses and cafes continue to occupy sidewalks with tables, chairs, refrigerators, and various merchandise. These obstructions hinder free movement, particularly impacting parents with strollers and individuals with special needs.
Tetovo Mayor Bilall Kasami stated that the municipality is aware of the issue and will increase inspections starting Monday. Kasami noted, “The inspectorate is on the ground every day, and we try to confront this phenomenon... in some cases, they even confiscate goods and equipment that block the road.”
Local authorities have warned that businesses occupying sidewalks without permission or exceeding permitted space may face sanctions, including the mandatory removal of equipment or fines.
