Tetovo police resolve case of Macedonian flag burning video

Police in Tetovo have resolved a case involving a TikTok video that depicted the burning of the Macedonian flag. The incident was detected during social media monitoring on September 22, 2026, and was identified as a criminal offense of “inciting hatred, discord or intolerance on national, religious and other discriminatory grounds” under the Criminal Code.

Authorities identified the profile owner as a minor under the age of 14 from Tetovo. During an official interview conducted with a parent and representatives from the Tetovo Center for Social Work, the minor confessed to the act.

As part of the investigation, the mobile phone used to upload the video was secured for evidence. The minor also identified three other minors who participated in the incident; they are expected to be summoned to the police station as the investigation continues. The case will be referred to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo.
