Tetsuya Nakajima film ‘Tokini wa Zange o’ released in Japan

The film ‘Tokini wa Zange o’ (Sometimes Confess), directed by Tetsuya Nakajima, was released in Japan on August 28, 2026. Based on the mystery novel by Bunzo Uchiumi, the project was reportedly in development for 18 years.

The story follows detective Mitsuo Satake, played by Hidetoshi Nishijima, and his assistant Satoko Nakano, played by Hikari Mitsushima. While investigating the death of a former colleague, they uncover connections to a nine-year-old infant kidnapping case involving a child with spina bifida. The film is described as a human drama that uses a mystery framework to explore themes of unconditional love, guilt, and hope.
