Tevfik Fikret commemorated at Galatasaray High School

A ceremony was held at Galatasaray High School to commemorate the 111th anniversary of the death of Tevfik Fikret, a prominent Turkish poet, writer, and educator. The event took place in the Tevfik Fikret Hall and was attended by school officials, including Principal Prof. Dr. Mustafa Reşat Dabak, and Galatasaray Sports Club President Dursun Aydın Özbek, along with various club members and foundation executives.

During the ceremony, which included a video presentation on Fikret’s life and works, Dursun Aydın Özbek emphasized that Fikret’s legacy extends beyond literature. He noted Fikret’s role as an innovative educator during his tenure as principal of Galatasaray High School and his position as the Patron President of Galatasaray Sports Club. Özbek also highlighted Fikret’s intellectual influence, stating that his ideas served as an inspiration for subsequent generations, including Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
