TEVX Zhongtong launches electric bus venture in Brazil
TEVX Zhongtong, a joint venture between the Brazilian company TEVX and the Chinese manufacturer Zhongtong Bus Holding Co., Ltd., has announced its entry into the Brazilian electric bus market. The company plans to introduce a diverse portfolio ranging from 7-meter models to 27-meter articulated vehicles, all featuring 100% low-floor designs and an autonomy exceeding 310 kilometers.
CEO Cadu Souza stated that the company intends to establish a factory in Brazil, noting that the location is 99% finalized. Additionally, the venture plans to create a research and development center in partnership with local universities. The vehicles will utilize CATL BC5 batteries and include features such as kneeling suspension and auxiliary climbing systems to improve stability on inclines.
The initial phase will introduce six specific electric models: the TZ9 minibus, TZ10 midi, TZ12 basic, TZ13 standard, TZ18 articulated, and the TZR road bus. The company aims to differentiate itself from existing 'low entry' models by providing full accessibility, allowing passengers with mobility restrictions to board and exit without the need for manual ramps or steps.
