Texas agency orders Harvest Christian University to stop granting degrees
A Texas higher‑education agency has ordered the self‑described Harvest Christian University in Dallas to cease operating illegally under state law, prohibiting it from offering any degrees and from using the term “university.”
The order follows the university’s award of an honorary doctorate to R&B singer Chris Brown, which the artist initially publicised on social media before deleting the posts. Harvest Christian University, founded in 2010 by Archbishop Carl Robinson II, claims tax‑exempt status and has a history of conferring honorary degrees on celebrities, but the agency says it must stop such activities until it complies with accreditation requirements.
