Missouri defeats Texas A&M 27-6 as coach Elko criticizes media

No. 14 Missouri defeated Texas A&M 27-6 in a Southeastern Conference matchup at Memorial Stadium. The Tigers' defense stifled the Aggies, holding them to 216 total yards, while running back Jamal Roberts led the offense with 222 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Following the loss, which dropped Texas A&M to a 3-3 record, head coach Mike Elko drew criticism for his postgame comments. When asked about the team's direction and concerned supporters, Elko distinguished between the loyal fan base and social media critics, stating, “There’s a difference to me between the fan base and social media. So there’s one group that I really don’t care much about. Billy’s cesspool can go be Billy’s cesspool.”

The remarks were directed at TexAgs, a prominent sports media site and fan forum co-owned by Billy Liucci. Liucci responded by calling the comments an “unnecessary misstep,” noting that it is never appropriate to call out a large, loyal portion of the fan base, especially during a difficult season.
