Texas A&M soccer defeats Sam Houston 5-0 in coach Shuttleworth’s home debut

The Texas A&M women’s soccer team secured a 5-0 victory over Sam Houston in the home debut of head coach Bobby Shuttleworth. The match, held at Ellis Field, marked the first time the program opened its regular-season homestand under a new head coach since 1993.

Ireland Churchill and Trinity Buchanan each recorded two goals and one assist. Churchill opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a header following a cross from Hattie Patterson. Buchanan doubled the lead later in the first half after receiving a pass from Churchill. Sophomore Ciara Jade Mitchell added a late goal to finalize the score.

Texas A&M dominated offensive play, outshooting Sam Houston 18-0 in the first half and finishing the game with a 27-2 advantage in total shots. Goalkeeper Makenna August earned her first career collegiate shutout during the contest.
