Texas A&M prepares for season opener against Missouri State
No. 8 Texas A&M is set to host the Missouri State Bears in its 2026 season opener at Kyle Field on September 5. This marks the first meeting between the two programs. Missouri State is entering its second season at the FBS level.
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko noted that the team is still working to finalize its starting offensive line. Following the loss of four starters from the 2025 season, the team has utilized the transfer portal to bolster the unit, but Elko stated the program is still “searching to figure out who the best five are” ahead of live game settings.
The Aggies enter the season with high expectations after an 11-2 record and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2025. Quarterback Marcel Reed is expected to enter his second season as the full-time starter.
