Texas announces various art contests and juried exhibits

Several art competitions and exhibits have been announced for participants in Texas. The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit Committee is inviting artists aged 15 and older to submit entries for its annual show. The event, which features various media including painting, sculpture, and photography, will be held at the Brownwood Depot Civic and Cultural Center. Artwork intake is scheduled for January 29–30, 2027, with over $7,000 in awards available.

Additionally, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has launched its 2026 Take Care of Texas Art Contest. This year, the competition has expanded to include students in grades K-12. The theme, “Ways to Reduce Waste,” encourages students to illustrate methods for reducing environmental impact. Prizes include gift cards for younger students and scholarships for those in grades 11-12, sponsored by the Texas Chemistry Council. Entries must be postmarked by December 18, 2026.
