Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announces arrests for illegal voting
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the arrest of multiple convicted felons accused of casting illegal ballots in Texas elections. The investigation was initiated following a tip from a concerned citizen on October 27, 2026, alleging that individuals on parole, probation, or incarceration had voted in Harris County.
Analysts from the Election Integrity Unit reviewed voter registration records and checked for participation in the 2026 election. After referring the cases to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, investigators verified that several individuals were on parole at the time of voting, which violates the Texas Election Code. Under state law, felony convictions result in the loss of voting rights for the duration of the sentence, including any period of incarceration, parole, or probation.
Arrest warrants were issued in Montgomery County on October 30, and subsequent arrests were carried out by officers from the Attorney General’s office. The Election Integrity Unit stated it is continuing to investigate additional reports of potential election crimes.
