Texas attorney questions judge after sleeveless dress reprimand

San Antonio attorney Mariah Medina has raised concerns regarding potential bias after being admonished by a judge for her attire. During a court appearance in Bexar County, Judge Yolanda Huff criticized Medina for wearing a sleeveless sheath dress, referring to the outfit as a “tank top” and questioning if Medina was “ready for a trial dressed like that.”

Medina, a 32-year-old Mexican-American attorney, has questioned whether her race, age, or gender influenced the reprimand. She noted that the dress code does not appear to be enforced uniformly, citing social media photos of Judge Huff appearing alongside another attorney wearing a similar sleeveless outfit. Medina stated that if the issue were truly about professionalism, she would expect the standard to be applied consistently across the board.
