Texas Border Seizure of Over $10 Million in Methamphetamine

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted a shipment carrying more than 1,100 pounds of suspected methamphetamine at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, on June 15, 2026. The drugs, valued at an estimated $10.1 million on the street, were discovered during a secondary inspection of a 2013 Volvo D‑13 that was declared to be transporting polypropylene. A canine team and a non‑intrusive inspection system led officers to the concealed narcotics.

Homeland Security Investigations has taken over the case, and Port Director Alberto Flores said the bust “reflects the steadfast dedication of CBP officers to protecting our communities from harmful drugs.” The operation was highlighted as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts under Secretary Markwayne Mullin to secure the border.

The seizure underscores ongoing drug trafficking challenges at the U.S.–Mexico border and demonstrates the scale of law‑enforcement activity aimed at curbing large‑volume narcotics smuggling into the United States.
