Texas Christian University launches professional aviation program

Texas Christian University has launched a new professional aviation program through its College of Education to address workforce demands in the aerospace industry. The program includes an Aviation Studies minor and a concentration in Aviation Administration, which commenced this fall. A professional pilot track is expected to launch in fall 2027, following a pathway aligned with FAA certification.

During a celebratory event in Fort Worth, leaders from American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport discussed the industry's economic impact and the necessity of skilled personnel. American Airlines CEO Robert Isom noted that the industry is a “people-serving-people business,” emphasizing that growth depends on workers who combine technical expertise with service commitment.

The initiative leverages Fort Worth’s status as a major aerospace hub to provide students with industry expertise and partnership opportunities.
