Texas cities advance arts advocacy through policy and community support
Arts leaders in Texas are focusing on the intersection of public policy and cultural growth. In Dallas, the TACA Unscripted gathering brought together national and local figures, including the CEO of Americans for the Arts, to discuss how the city can ensure its expanding creative economy and major cultural institutions provide equitable access to opportunities across all communities.
Meanwhile, Fort Worth has been honored with the Community Impact Through Arts Advocacy Legacy Award from Texans for the Arts. The city was recognized for several strategic initiatives, including moving community arts contract services under the Library Department, appointing arts leaders to advisory committees, and dedicating significant public wall space for professional gallery use. Additionally, Fort Worth successfully advocated for converting a historic downtown property into an arts incubator featuring studios, galleries, and performance spaces.
