Texas collegiate athletes earn weekly defensive honors

Alexandra Hughes, a defender for Texas Woman's University, has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Hughes contributed to two shutout victories that extended the Pioneers' winning streak to four matches. Her performance helped the team maintain a 13-1 overall record and a 9-1 mark in conference play.

In volleyball, Leddy Rae Guinn of Tarleton State University has been named the United Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Guinn, a junior libero, recorded 21 digs during a rivalry win against Abilene Christian. She currently leads the Texans in total digs and digs per set for the season.
