Texas Congressman Chip Roy requests DHS deportation data

Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) has issued a follow-up request to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin seeking a detailed accounting of deportation figures. The inquiry aims to track progress toward the Trump administration’s goal of removing one million illegal aliens per year.

Roy requested that the data be categorized into two groups: those removed at the border and those deported from within the U.S. interior. He noted that Congress requires this information to determine if the Department of Homeland Security requires additional resources or new legislation to support enforcement efforts, such as worksite operations and the prioritization of individuals with criminal records.

While DHS officials reported that over 605,000 illegal aliens were deported in 2025 and approximately 2.2 million have self-deported since late January 2025, Roy cited other reports suggesting interior deportations for that year were closer to 230,000.
