Texas construction worker killed in house collapse during high winds
A construction worker died in Texas after a two-story home under construction collapsed during intense storms and high winds on Thursday. Travis County Emergency Services confirmed the fatality on Friday morning.
Four workers were present at the site when winds measuring between 50 and 70 mph struck the area. While two workers managed to escape the collapsing structure, two others were trapped. One worker sustained fatal injuries, while the second worker was found awake and breathing beneath the house framework.
Emergency responders from Travis County Emergency Services District 5 and the Austin Fire Department Special Operations team conducted a rescue operation to stabilize the structure and lift it off the pinned individual. Regional wind reports indicated gusts of 60 mph during the storm activity.
