Texas Democratic candidate James Talarico's church chaplain questioned in video

Rev. Babs Miller, a chaplain at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, was captured in an undercover video expressing skepticism regarding core Christian doctrines. Miller, who serves the congregation attended by Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, questioned the historical existence of Jesus and dismissed the virgin birth as a concept rooted in paganism.

In the footage, Miller stated that there is no way to know if Jesus truly existed and suggested that even if he did, he was a “social warrior” rather than a figure who died to save humanity from sin. She described the church’s approach to theology as being similar to a 12-step program, encouraging congregants to “take what you want and leave the rest” regarding traditional religious rules.
