Texas families receive mysterious transgender resource mailers

Families across Texas have reported receiving unsolicited mailers and text messages titled “Texas Trans & LGBTQ+ Student Resource Guide.” The materials, addressed to the “students” of various households, provide advice for minors whose parents may not support their gender identity. The content includes information on seeking a “safe adult,” accessing gender-affirming care, traveling out of state for medical services, and the legal process for emancipation.

The mailers claim to be from the “Texas Transgender Student Union,” an entity that business records show was registered in Wyoming in September 2026. Investigations indicate the listed return address is associated with a commercial mailbox rental and shell company location. The Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT), an advocacy group whose branding and resources are featured in the pamphlets, has issued statements denying any involvement, stating the materials are an impersonation attempt.

The distribution of these materials has coincided with the start of early voting for the November 3 midterm elections in Texas. While some residents and activists have expressed outrage over the messaging, others have suggested the campaign may be a political tactic. TENT has pursued legal action, including issuing a subpoena to a messaging company, to address the impersonation campaign.
