Texas gas prices fall modestly as back‑to‑school season begins

Average pump prices in Texas slipped to $3.64 per gallon, a decline of six cents from the previous week. The cheapest gasoline was recorded in McAllen at $3.49 a gallon, while El Paso saw the highest price at $3.99. City‑by‑city figures showed modest changes, such as Amarillo at $3.62, Lubbock at $3.66, Midland at $3.74, Odessa at $3.76, Tyler at $3.58, and Abilene at $3.68.

AAA Texas corporate communications manager Doug Shupe said the drop reflects ample local supply and a shift in consumer spending toward back‑to‑school items. At the same time, oil benchmarks fell, with Brent crude trading at $89.42 per barrel and WTI at $83.74, both roughly $10‑$13 lower than the prior week after the United States and Iran paused recent military exchanges. Analysts warned that renewed Middle‑East tension could push gasoline prices up again.
