Texas gas prices rise following Labor Day holiday

Gasoline prices in Texas have increased following the Labor Day holiday, contrary to seasonal trends that typically see prices decline during this period. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in the state rose to $3.83, marking a 14-cent increase from the previous week.

Regional variations show significant differences in costs. El Paso reported the highest prices in the state at $4.22 per gallon, while Houston offered the lowest at $3.69. Most cities experienced increases, including Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, Odessa, and Tyler, with Abilene being the only city to see a slight decrease of 1 cent.

According to AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster, continued volatility in the oil market is exerting upward pressure on gasoline prices. Brent Crude was priced at $107.80 per barrel, while West Texas Crude stood at $102.70.
