Texas Governor Abbott announces $1.7 million in grants for West Texas veterans

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced $1.7 million in grants from the Fund for Veterans' Assistance (FVA) to support six organizations in West Texas. The funding is part of the Texas Veterans Commission's ‘Grants Across Texas Tour’ and is expected to benefit approximately 1,800 local veterans.

The grants are designated for critical services, including housing, emergency financial assistance, transportation, clinical counseling, and family support. Specific allocations include $400,000 for the El Paso County Veterans Treatment Court, $285,000 for financial assistance in El Paso County, and $140,000 for transportation services provided by the City of El Paso. Other recipients include Jeff Davis County, the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission, Project Amistad, and the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region.

Abbott stated that the funds aim to provide veterans with the essential services required to thrive, noting that the state remains committed to supporting service members and their families.
