Texas Governor race: Hinojosa leads Abbott in new poll

A New York Times/Siena College poll indicates that Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa is leading Republican Governor Greg Abbott by three points in Texas. While the result falls within the poll's margin of error, it has prompted significant political movement.

More than 70 Latino Democratic leaders have sent a letter to the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) urging the organization to invest $10 million in the race. The leaders, including former HUD Secretary Julián Castro, are calling on DGA Chair Andy Beshear to provide substantial support to Hinojosa as the campaign enters its final weeks.

Despite the polling shift, Hinojosa faces a significant financial gap, with Abbott and Republican allies reportedly outspending her by approximately 10-to-1. Critics of the poll have questioned its methodology, citing a small sample size and potential skews in voter demographics.
