Texas gubernatorial race remains a toss-up between Abbott and Hinojosa
The race for the Texas governorship remains highly competitive as midterm elections approach. Incumbent Republican Greg Abbott is seeking a fourth term against Democratic challenger Gina Hinojosa.
Polling data indicates a tight contest, with RealClearPolling placing the race in the ‘Toss Up’ category. The average shows Abbott at 48.6% and Hinojosa at 46.4%. While some individual polls, such as Fox News and Big Data Poll, show a lead for Abbott, others, including a University of Texas at Austin study and YouGov, show Hinojosa with a slight advantage.
Voter enthusiasm appears to differ by party, with 72% of Democrats reporting being highly or extremely motivated to vote, compared to 62% of Republicans. Economic concerns, specifically the cost of living, remain a primary issue for voters.
